BIO - Well respected by other Jedi, Seer Oohosis was not the most powerful Jedi Master in the Republic, but he was one of the most studious and scholarly of his era. He had the great and rare privledge of being one of the very few to ever have read straight from the original manuscripts of the founding Jedi: the Book of Jedi-Bendu and the Journal of the Whills. These privledges came from the fact that his former master was the head of the Council of First Knowledge and the sentry of the Ossus Library archives in the central spire of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Just cause had to be given to gain access to reference materials. If the sentinel did not accept your reasoning, you were denied those tools of learning until a future time. This was to keep Padawans, Knights, and even Masters from gaining knowledge beyond their ability. Seer could always find a reason for research. The original editions of these Jedi lore had been hand written in over 130 languages between the two volumns. Long ago, they were translated into basic and copied onto datacards for ease of use. Unfortunately, translations are not always word for word accurate, and meanings can become lost. This is why Seer had studied to learn all the dialects well enough to read their true message. Seven years into his own service on the Council of First Knowledge (about nine years before the Battle of Naboo), Seer pieced together from numerous verses between both volumns, the prophecy that their would be a chosen one: The Son of the Suns, created by the Force, to bring balance. He offered his discovery to the Jedi High Council, and after reviewing his findings, they accepted his claim with great reluctance. Master Oohosis had become a distinguished member of the Council of First Knowledge when he was thirty-one standard years old, and served for fifteen years before returning to his home planet of Agamar to train the grandson his daughter was pregnant with. She soon gave birth to his one and only grandson, Sho-Shaun Maven. Seer showed him the ways of the Force. He taught Sho-Shaun how to relax, keep focus, and remain calm even in the midst of turmoil. When Sho-Shaun was old enough, Seer trained him in the arts of Jedi fighting; how to build and use a lightsaber, and how to feel his opponents next move. Seer took the training of his grandson very seriously. He could feel the role his grandson would play in future events. The training of Sho-Shaun became even more important after the Jedi Quinlan Vos (along with his niece, Quailyn Vos) arrived with a message confirming the slaying of Shaun's father, Seminole Maven. Following his valiant efforts in the Clone Wars, Seminole had been struck down by a fallen Jedi named Darth Vader during the beginning of what is now known as the "Jedi Purge." Rumors of the Jedi Order being executed by a pair of Sith Lords were verified, so Seer and Sho-Shaun had to lay low. They would have to remain hidden until the genocide was over. Twenty-four years after going underground, Jedi Master Seer Oohosis died of, simply, old age. A sudden release of pressure off the Force finally allowed him to complete his training. He died with his daughter, Shyan, and his grandson, Sho-Shaun, at his side, holding each of his hands. He died and became one with the Force.
When Seer passed away, he did so safe in the knowledge that Sho-Shaun carried the wisdom to conceive the rebirth of a new Jedi Order. That part of the prophecy he had neglected to explain to the Council.

NOTE -
Seer = a person supposedly able to visualize and thus predict the future

Oohosis = Metis (French-Canadian/Indian) word for "the owl." In Metis culture, the owl is a messanger. In our culture, the owl is a symbol of knowledge and wisdom.

Jedi-Bendu = a term taken from the first sentence Lucas ever wrote in his work on Star Wars: "The story of Mace Windu, a revered Jedi-bendu of Opuchi, who was..."

Journal of the Whills = the book from which the story of Star Wars was supposed to be read from

The Son of the Suns = the second and third draft of the script for Star Wars began with the quote: "And in time of greastest despair there shall come a savior and and he shall be known as The Son of the Sun." this was slightly changed for a sound byte heard at the end of Return of the Jedi - Special Edition, and The Phantom Menace which is of an individual yelling Son of Suns.
