"Better dead here, then dead in the core!"

Over the eons, the everchanging surface of this dark planet has turned valleys into mountains, and mountains into valleys. It has filled in seas, and opened up oceans. The highly active core spits molten rock over the land, pumps sulfuric gas into the atmosphere, and cracks open the brittle planet shell causing enormous rifts all around. Dangerously high winds storms blow botanical spores sporatically across the harsh environment. Vegitation is sparce, but existent. No species of creature lives on the planet. It is an unlivable planet; an uninhabitable planet. Uninhabitable... except for a Sith. Darth Morbia makes his home within lava caves down in the bowels of the planet. Stalactites and stalagmites project from the ceiling and floor of the caverns like the teeth of a carnivorous beast. Liquid hot magma surrounds the walkway, making a mis-step fatal. At the far end of Lord Morbia's chamber sits his ominous throne. Designed after the architecture of the superior skyscapers of Imperial Center, it is where the Dark Lord metatates and configures the next stage of his plan.
Tartarus = In Greek mythology, Tartarus lies far beneath the disk of the world. Deeper then Hades kingdom of the underworld. It is used as the ultimate of prisons, unpleasent, and inaccessable.
the picture is a pre-production concept drawing by Ralph McQuarrie of he Emperor's throne room on Coruscant. the idea eventually turned into the throne room on the uncompleted, second Death Star.
