BIO - Following in the footsteps of his older cousin, Soontir Fel, Nico Chequer worked for AGR with his aunt and uncle on Corellia. Born on Ralltiir, he went to live with the Fel family when he was eight years old, after a tragic fire took the lives of his parents. A large child at the age of fourteen, Nico watched his cousin win a Harvest Festival flying race, and just couldn't wait to celebrate. He idealized his cousin. After hearing that Soontir had started a second tour of TIE service, he was inspired to become an Imperial pilot too. Although a year older than most, he applied and was accepted to the Imperial Naval Academy at Carida. The academy got him into the best shape of his life, both physically and mentally. The philosophies of the Emperor's New Order were burned into his brain. He lived to serve the Empire. His body had become a deadly weapon, but he was at his deadliest behind the controls of a TIE Interceptor. His dormmate, Saph C. Knerac, was his toughest competition in the flying courses. They pushed each other to be better, and pushed the rest of the class to keep up. At age 23, Nico thought his graduating from the academy in the top fifth percentile of his class was the biggest accomplishment of his life, until he was told that he had been selected to enter "Strikers' Crease," a new high performance flight and maneuvering school the Imperial Navy was creating upon suggestion of Ambassador Furgan. He was one of three in his class chosen to attend. Surprisingly, his dormmate, Saph, was not picked to go. Nico later heard rumors that Saph had led the entire 38th wing in a defection to the Alliance, but he didn't believe it. He graduated from the "Crease" with the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned to the 37th wing 6 squadron, just as his cousin had been (he would have been assigned to the 38th wing with the rest of his class from the academy, but the rumor was true, so it no longer existed). The 6/37th now was under the command of Lord Tion, and their first mission was to identify and eradicate all Alliance personnel and Rebel sympathizers on the planet Ralltiir; Nico's birth planet. He ignored his feelings and did his duty, helping to establish a naval blockade to prevent anyone from leaving. A Rebel raid at the spaceports southern perimeter distracted Lord Tion and his troops allowing Operation: Skyhook to deliver the stolen plans for the Death Star super weapon to Princess Leia Organa who smuggled them out past the blockade aboard the Tantive IV. Following the Empire's loss at the Battle of Yavin, the 6/37th was relocated to Coruscant to deter a Rebel coup d'etat. Between the end of his mandatory first tour of TIE service and the beginning of his voluntary second tour of TIE service, Nico was granted a short leave of absence to attend his cousin's marriage to the Holonet actress Wynssa Starflare. It was a grand wedding, but he enjoyed getting to see his aunt and uncle again the most. After spending his whole second tour guarding the Imperial Center, he volunteered for a third tour hoping to get a more prestigious assignment. He was denied. Instead he was promoted to Captain and transferred, as all TIE pilots eventually are, to Fleet Operations. After nearly two years of fighting smugglers and pirates near Abregado-rae, Nico was contacted by Imperial Intelligence, by special request of the Emperor himself, to partake in a secret mission. His job was to lead a small task force in flying a stock light freighter to Bothawui. Their cargo would be information regarding the location of a second Death Star that was still in the stages of construction. Their objective was to allow the information to be hi-jacked while putting up a convincing fight. Needless to say, the mission went according to plan, with Nico taking out twelve of the Bothan Y-wings in the process and earning himself a promotion to Major. For the ensuing Battle of Endor, Nico was once again reunited with the 6/37th as the commander. It also marked a proud moment in his career; he finally got to fly with his cousin Soontir. Nico's squadron had many kills that day. They even pursued Rebel pilots into the heart of the Death Star. Nico was lucky enough to escape the explosion when he pursued a decoy A-wing out of the battle station. After the devastating death of Emperor Palpatine, Nico's squadron was assigned to the Star Destroyer "Chimaera" under the command of Captain Gilad Pellaeon. They spent the next year fighting battles within the remnants of the Empire in support of Director Ysanne Isard. Then, for a second time in his career, Nico was contacted by Imperial Intelligence. This time by request of Iceheart herself. He was selected to be the lead pilot of the newly reformed Sigma Squadron. In their search for a super weapon to unite behind, Imperial Intelligence decided that the cloak-modified V-38 assault fighter, or Phantom Fighter, was the most cost efficient, as well as, tactical superior choice. Under the name Operation: Claymore, these tri-fighters would be secretly built and tested. Admiral Blazon was the head of the project, and whom Nico reported to. A year into the project, the tests were very promising, but Sigma Squadron received a slight setback when the Admiral was killed by a disgruntled bounty hunter upset with the price paid for work done. Things were quickly back to normal when the next officer in line, Colonel Tannin, was granted the project lead. To acknowledge the success of the Phantom Fighter testing, Nico was bestowed the of Baron. He is the only non-Colonel to receive the honor. With a new commander, the operation moved from build and test, to train and prepare. The time for Sigma Squadron to go into action was rapidly approaching, and with it the chance for Nico to possibly outshine his cousin Soontir.
